Portfolio Feature - Natural Light Portraits

I have always worked with natural light when shooting portraits. This simply means, I only use the available natural sunlight to take photos instead of setting up flashes and my own lighting. I love the look that is achieved with natural light photography, it always feels more, well, natural!

When taking photos with natural light, you need to be aware that more light is not always better. It’s best to keep your subject out of direct sunlight, and instead use reflected or diffused light on your subject. Sunset is always a great time to take natural light photos, since the light is softer and more diffused. It also offers the opportunity to take some really cool photos with the sunlight behind your subject.

Taking photos inside using natural light is a bit trickier. You’ll need a location that has large windows that let a lot of natural light in, and again, you’ll want to make sure that no harsh, direct light is hitting your subject.
