Project Feature - United Way, Knox County
When I launched my business about a year ago, one of my first clients was United Way of Knox County. United Way had a few programs they were wanting to highlight, and decided video was the perfect way to do so. We created two videos showing off three of the programs they sponsor at local elementary schools. I was very excited to work with them to create a few videos, and working with a non-profit and filming programs that directly involved children was both fun and challenging. Going in to the project with a tight budget and filming schedule, we had to think creatively to get a few things accomplished, but the final videos turned out perfectly.
One of the videos focused on their after school programs, and featured interviews and footage of Eagles Nest After School Program and Tiger Pride After School Program. It was great to see the impact of these programs and talk with the teachers, students, and principals of the schools. Filming these kiddos and seeing how much they enjoyed these programs was very rewarding. There were a few challenges as well, we had a short amount of time to film with the kids and didn’t want to interrupt their normal after school routine and program, every shot had to have at least four children in it, and on top of that it began to rain while we were filming! We had to do a few pick up shoots to get some of the footage we were missing for this project, but the end result exceeded expectations!
The other video we created was for their Crunch Out program. This program is a health and exercise program that is part of gym class for area fourth graders. This project really was loads of fun to film. You can see how much fun the kids are having and how much they enjoy this special program. We faced a few challenges similar to the After School Program video, but we were in one location and were able to get everything we needed for this video in about an hour of filming.
Working with the team at United Way was fantastic. They had a vision for what they wanted and didn’t mind hoping on a phone call or having a meeting to make sure we were all on the same page. They gave me some of my first video pieces to add to my businesses portfolio, and because of these projects I was able to land several more projects starting out.
“We loved working with Molly! She is so professional and accommodating, especially when it’s pouring and outside shots can’t be taken! We are looking forward to using Molly for many future projects. If you have any reservations, don’t, Molly is the best!”
