Project Feature - Highlights Library
Recently, I had the amazing opportunity to work with Highlights to create a video about Highlights Library. Highlights Library is an amazing tool that allow teachers, students, and parents access to the amazing Highlights content and thousands of books online. The video was created as an educational piece, to tell people more about Highlights Library and show off some of its features. The team at Highlights wanted to feature interviews of Highlights employees, along with video footage, animation, and screen capture. The interviews of the Highlights employees provide us with the narrative, telling us the story of Highlights Library, as well as the features and impacts the site has. For this project, we opted to utilize professional stock footage to help tell the story of Highlights Library. Stock footage was an excellent option for this video since filming with this many children and actors would have been much more expensive and time consuming. So we utilized stock footage of children and families reading and using tablets and computers can be seen, as well as footage of classrooms, to help capture the mood of Highlights Library and tell the story. We also used screen capture for this project. The screen capture elements are used to show what Highlights Library looks like online, and how to interact with and use the site. Animation was also used in this video. Highlights wanted some elements to be expressed visually without using stock footage. Highlights provided the graphic images from their stores of illustrations, and I then animated the characters and elements to create animated sequences for the video.
All in all, this was a fantastic project to work on. From working with the amazing staff at Highlights, to branching out and using stock footage and animating, it was a great experience. Check it out!
